The firm was established in 1923 by Walter Powell. At that time, in addition to private treaty sales, he dealt with auctions, was a farmer and a coal merchant. How times have changed!
Robert J. Powell, Walter's son, joined the firm in 1937, but served in the army from 1940 to 1946. During the war, Walter died. The firm was restarted by Robert Powell in 1946 and was built up into the major firm dealing with residential property in the area.
Bernard Jones joined in 1972, becoming a partner in 1976. Robert Powell retired in 1986, and the firm was taken over by Bernard. Bernard's wife, Gwenda, became an equal partner in 1987. Gwenda now looks after the Bridgend Office, while Bernard covers the Pencoed office and deals with the professional survey work.
Being a family concern, the proprietors live locally and are involved in local affairs. Most importantly, Gwenda and Bernard are on the spot and accessible to all our clients, many of whom have become friends. We even receive some thank you notes from our clients and are always pleased to receive a pat on the back.
